Pride Month Special Screening & Discussion of CURED!

You're Invited: Celebrate Pride Month with a Special Screening & Discussion of CURED!
In celebration of Pride Month, we warmly invite you to a special private virtual screening of the award-winning documentary CURED. Join us on Wednesday, June 25th, at 7 PM ET for this powerful 55-minute film, followed by an engaging discussion.
CURED highlights a pivotal, yet little-known, moment in LGBTQ+ history where activists and psychiatrists rose up to challenge a formidable institution — and won! The film takes viewers inside the David-versus-Goliath battle that led the American Psychiatric Association to remove the diagnosis of homosexuality from its manual of mental illnesses in 1973. It's been described as "fascinating" (Hollywood Reporter), "riveting" (The Queer Review), "timely and urgent" (Cinerama Film), and "one of the best documentaries of this or any year" (British Film Institute). Watch the trailer for CURED.

CWA is thrilled to partner with the filmmakers for this exclusive event! The conversation after the screening will delve into CURED and its present-day resonance, featuring the film’s Emmy-nominated co-director, Patrick Sammon. We've also provided a CURED virtual background scheme in case you'd like to display it during the movie.
While CURED tells a story from the past, its lessons are profoundly relevant in today’s global fight for LGBTQ+ equality. This documentary, which attracted 1.5 million viewers during its national broadcast premiere on PBS, celebrates the pathbreaking contributions of LGBTQ+ pioneers and powerfully demonstrates that even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, determined individuals can work together to create lasting social change.
We genuinely hope you’ll join us to watch and discuss this inspiring film!
